Gender Justice Teach-in

At our neighbor church Holy Trinity Lutheran on Saturday, May 12

Registration, Snacks and Socializing 9:30 - 10:00
Workshop 10:00 - 12 noon.

Is it a girl or is it a boy? That’s usually a simple and fair question. However, for a small percentage of people, their birth-assigned gender contradicts their internal, personal sense of gender.
Are you bewildered by this concept? You are not alone. It takes time and effort to be comfortable with new terms like transgender and gender non-binary.
At the same time, we sincerely want our congregation to be a place of welcome for transgender and gender non-binary folks. How do we do this? The starting point is to learn how to discuss the nuances of gender identity and sexual orientation. Then we can go on to learn what trans inclusion looks like.
The Reconciling in Christ (RIC) committee is hosting a “Gender Justice Teach-in” to address these and other questions. More details on the workshop contents can be found at http://www.htelc.org/fellowship/ric.html. The workshop will be led by Joey Lopez from More Light Presbyterians. We are inviting members of area congregations to attend this event.
The event is free. RSVP (donations not necessary.)
