Upcoming Mission Lunches

January 26 Mission Lunch:

The Fairmont Methodist Church Social Justice Committee is proud to host Comite Popular Somos Raleigh for the January 26 mission lunch. When asylum seekers cross the U.S. border they are initially placed in detention (often for months). If they are able to pass the ICE “credible fear test”, they are then allowed to enter the U.S. as asylum seekers and travel by bus to family or sponsors, often with no more that the clothes on their backs.

The proceeds from our mission lunch will help to support the mission of the remarkable women of Comite Popular Somos Raleigh who provide comfort, hope and a friendly voice to asylum applicants on their bus rides through Raleigh to their destinations in the U.S. In addition, the mission provides physical assistance that might include fruit, bottled juice and water, protein bars, diapers, jackets, shoes, toiletry items, phone cards, etc.

Mission lunches are most Sundays following morning worship. Cost is by donation and you do not need a reservation to attend. If you are interested in hosting a mission lunch contact This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
