United Methodist Women

The purpose of United Methodist Women: The organized unit of the United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ: to develop a creative, supportive fellowship, and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.

There are three unit meetings planned during the year -  one evening meeting the first Thursday in June, and two morning meetings, the second Mondays in March and September. Our local unit is part of the Raleigh District of the United Methodist Church, the North Carolina Conference of UMW, and Church Women United, which is ecumenical. Opportunities exist for Bible study, participation in mission studies, service projects, and fellowship.
Barbara Maddrey serves as president of the United Methodist Women. You may call her at 872-2795. Our local unit is divided into circles:

Women’s Circles

Susannah Wesley

Susanna Wesley Circle meets the first Monday night of each month. Contact: Carole Morris (781-1885)

Circle 7

Circle Seven meets the second Monday of each month at 10:00 am. Contact: Margaret Bishop.

Ladies’ Night Out

Fairmont Ladies’ Night Out is open to any and all women, Fairmont members or not! We meet the first Monday of every month, usually at 7:00 pm, at various restaurants. We try to choose restaurants in Raleigh and Cary, alternately. On occasion, we go to places like bead shops or paint-your-own pottery stores. [LNO is currently looking for a new coordinator. Watch the calendar & bulletins for locations and times and the meeting day may change.]

Men’s Fellowship

Our Fairmont Men’s Fellowship meets on “third Thursdays” (usually!) for a shared meal
in a variety of settings. The agenda is intentionally one designed for a relaxing evening
together. Get on the email list with Ken Dulaney, kdulaney70@gmail.com, and stay informed.
The men of the church have a solid history of service in the life of the church, including painting the Fellowship Hall in 2004, landscaping, and a variety of projects enhancing the Fairmont building and grounds.
Discussions continue about where God is calling us to be in ministry. The Fairmont area is mixed use and diverse, at the amazing intersection of North Carolina State University, the University Park neighborhood, and the Cameron Village shopping center. Where do you see God calling men? Respond by emailing Fairmont@intrex.net, att. Pastor Steve.
